Minister of Treasury and Finance

Berat Albayrak was born in Istanbul on February 21, 1978.

Mr. Albayrak, who graduated from Department of Business Administration of Istanbul University, completed his master's degree at New York Pace University Lubin School of Business. He received Ph.D. degree in "Finance of Renewable Energy Sources" from the Department of Banking and Finance. He started his professional career in 1996. He has pioneered many different initiatives in different sectors, especially in economy, energy and finance, as a manager.

He had put an end to his career in the private sector by the end of 2013. He lectured on banking and finance at the Marmara University in addition to commencing as a columnist in Sabah newspaper. He has been active in many civil society organizations.

Mr. Albayrak, who got into the Assembly as a 25th, 26th and 27th terms Istanbul deputy, has been a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Justice and Development Party. He was the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of 64th and 65th Governments of the Republic of Turkey.

During Mr. Albayrak’s term , National Energy and Mining Strategy Document, consisting of Turkey's medium and long-term energy policies, was prepared. For this context, many energy and mining projects, set an example for the world, have been put into practice such as;

  • Turkey’s first FSRU Project (Floating Storage Regasification Unit) for natural gas supply security, 
  • The world's largest solar and wind power plants tender, which requires conditions of local factory and R&D and 1000 MW capacity, 
  • The launch of Turkey's first domestic and national drill ship, 
  • 1 million meters of ground drilling and 
  • National Boron Strategy. 

Mr. Albayrak is married and has three children.
